Mechanical Designer

An immediate opportunity exists for a Designer Drafter with at least five years of experience to join the Nel Hydrogen/Proton OnSite team

About the Position

This position will require working closely with a range of engineering disciplines to create and detail designs, and document engineering change orders.  The projects range from turnkey engineered solutions and new product development to updating and maintaining legacy products.  A wide variety of projects, tasks, and many people to interact with keeps the pace high and the challenges coming!


  • Use PTC/Creo to model parts and assemblies, and produce detailed drawings.

    • Designs may be prepared from verbal or written instructions.

  • Process engineering change orders on new & existing products and drawings.

  • Assist Engineers in the creation and maintenance of bills of materials, manufacturing process documents, specifications, Etc.

  • Design and detail of simple parts through complex assemblies in support of existing and future product designs.

  • Coordinate design activities with team members through the effective use of Windchill PDMLink.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Extensive design experience using Pro/Engineer (PTC/Creo) to generate models & drawings common to the industrial equipment industry such as; machined parts, sheet metal, plastic, tubing & multipart assemblies.

  • Experience managing CAD data with Windchill PDMLink or similar PDM environment.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products.

  • Self-motivated and an ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team of professionals.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with ANSI/ASME Y14.X drafting standards

  • Experience with any of the following a plus

    • AutoCAD, KeyShot (rendering), Simulation (FEA, CFD)


Education and/or Experience:

  • Five, or more, years of relevant industrial experience

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent
