Go Green: Ride a Bike!

May is National Bike Month. Established in 1956 by the League of American Bicyclists, National Bike Month was initially started to showcase the many benefits of bicycling. Further, the League of American Bicyclists went on to identify a specific week aimed at promoting the advantages of biking to work. Today, National Bike to Work Week (May 16-20th) is celebrated in communities from coast to coast.

Whether you bike to work or school; ride to save money or time; pump those pedals to preserve your health or the environment; or simply to explore your community, National Bike Month is an opportunity to celebrate those who are dedicated to health and fitness, sustainability and the many personal reasons why they ride.

This year an official “Bike to Work Day” was held on May 20th, and Proton OnSiteparticipated in the event. Some members of the Proton team bike to work on a regular basis, so this was nothing out of the ordinary for them. However, this was our opportunity to acknowledge the employees for their commitment to living a health-conscious lifestyle.

As a company, we enjoy contributing to causes that impact the environment and the daily lives of our employees! We encourage our staff to live healthy, productive lifestyles that will benefit themselves, their families and our environment long term. Some of these efforts have resulted in sustainable and health-conscious initiatives such as employee car pools, a seminar series (varied guest speakers visit our facility and address a number of health-related topics), and events such as National Bike to Work Week.

Part of a larger conversation, National Bike to Work Week is a wonderful way to promote sustainable travel.  Sustainability is something that we take seriously at Proton OnSite. We strive to identify ways that our products can positively impact the environment. Serving a broad set of industries worldwide, on-site gas generation is a dynamic, safe and reliable method of producing the gas you need when and where you need it. Whether it be optimizing the capture and storage of renewable energy or eliminating the need for delivered gas transport, on-site gas generation is a sustainable solution that benefits our customers and our environment.

We are proud of the employees who participated in #BiketoWorkDay2016 (National Bike to Work Week) and will continue to support causes that encourage principles we feel so strongly about! Find facts about bicycling and the growth of sustainable commuting in your city or state here:
